Love and fire

"Absence is to love what wind is to fire; it extinguishes the small, it enkindles the great." -- Comte de Bussy-Rabnutin
Okay, this is a beautiful quote and normally I would be sighing about its beauty, but today it set me thinking. If the great fire was enkindled too much, wouldn't it burn the heart down? And if the heart burnt down, wouldn't the love burn down too? After all, love is all about the heart, isn't it? soal

  1. The heart is a piece of crap. I hate it. Wish I could live without it. :(

I don't like pain and happiness coming together. Yuck!

  2. Heart is way too strong than we think it is. It can absorb a lot. it can release a lot of care. Some times, we just don't try to see its depth. to feel the peace inside. in the end, all we left remembering is the hurt it got because of love. But i believe there is more to it. heavenly and special. true love is something divine. selfless. Ahh... where am i going with it.. Sorry. :)

  5. Don't think too much, dearest Siras. Haven't you heard, "The more you think about things, the weirder they seem. Take milk for example. Why do we drink COW milk? Who was the guy who first looked at a cow and said. I think I'll drink whatever comes out of these things when I squeeze 'em!"

The lesser you think, the better :D

  6. Snivelly: And I'd say it's a blessing to be able to feel the pain and the happiness. No matter how painful it is. :)

    An ILLuS|On: Yea :)

Ahmer: No need to be sorry. :)
And I completely agree with you. No matter how much sorrow love gave you, I wouldn't trade it for the entire world- because the beauty and warmth love gives is a lot more precious, no matter how short-lived, and well worth the sorrow it gives. I know that sounds irrational but still..

  7. sanely insane: Yes, I agree. It was just a thought. And it's tough sometimes, long distance or short distance. That's just life. :)

Komal: And I don't understand what baybak means. :o

Dinky Mind: Hehehe, you're quite right actually. That makes a lot o sense eventhough it sounds a little crazy. :p
That's one thing I definitely need to work on, I think TOO much!

  8. @siras: the thing you are calling irrational, makes the difference. :) You can live a lifetime in a moment. And I'm looking forward to living a lot of lifetimes, in this one life. InshAllah.

  13. See the person who said this used the word "enkindle" ! It's got nothing to do with burning of the heart. I think I agree with this quote. One doesn't make a fool of oneself by believing in suich things. They only show you who are "great" and who are "small". If one keeps losing the people one loves, to long distance I mean, possibly they 're small.....that's how I think.
    Btw.... "baybak" means "candid"

  14. I agree with the quote myself. :)
My brain was just doing some random wandering around. :p =P
And I totally agree with you that if you kept losing your loved one to just distance, you are definitely small.
And thanks for telling me the meaning.
